The Nalox-ZONE™ Program aims to support both safety and harm reduction in communities across the state of Wisconsin.
Opioids continue to be the main cause of drug overdose deaths in the United States. Despite progress in addressing the opioid epidemic over the past few years, the number of reported suspected opioid overdoses have beenincreasing in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Voices for Recovery’s Nalox-ZONE™ Program currently provides Nalox-ZONE™ boxes and related supplies (including Narcan®) to the community for free. Ourmission is to support both safety and harm reduction efforts to prevent opioid-overdose-related fatalities, through increasing access to naloxone through installation of Nalox-ZONE™ boxes. This program is currently free. We have installed over 500 NZ boxes to date (8/1/24) across 60 counties.
What is a Nalox-ZONE™ box?
A Nalox-ZONE™ box is an opioid overdose reversal resource that is used to reduce the risk of opioid-overdose-related fatality. Each Nalox-ZONE™ box contains nasal naloxone (Narcan®), a CPR breathing barrier mask, naloxone administration tear-off instructions (English/Spanish), and 211 Wisconsin Addiction Recovery Helpline business cards (English/Spanish). Please click here to watch the Nalox-ZONE™ program introductory video.
Where can I install?
Nalox-ZONE™ boxes can be installed in almost any indoor location. To learn more about the Nalox-ZONE™ program, click the link at the bottom of this page.
I’m interested. How do I request Nalox-ZONE™ box for my organization?
The first stop is to click the link at the bottom of this page to request a Nalox-ZONE™ box. We’ll have you review the introductory video, set up a time to meet, and answer any questions you may have. If you decide to participate, we’ll have you sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), train you in Narcan® administration, and have you report Nalox-ZONE™ box supplies usage each month through a brief online survey. For box sites with compatible wireless internet networks, Nalox-ZONE™ box access can be monitored electronically by your organization.
