Alison Miller is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and Board Certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She has a special interest in treating substance use disorders within the field of primary care. She is on faculty at the UW Addiction Medicine Department. Recently implemented UW Health's Hub and Spoke Team, expanding treatment and access of care for patients with OUD. She advocates, educates, and supports patients who struggle with addiction at her primary care site UW Health Yahara, Monona, Wisconsin.
Cindy Burzinski is the current Director of Wisconsin Voices for Recovery, part of the UW-Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH). She is also a licensed Clinical Substance abuse Counselor, person in long-term recovery, and researcher interested in increasing access to supportive resources within the recovery community.
Prior to her work at UW-Madison, she worked at Journey Mental Health Center providing individual and group outpatient therapy, and Tellurian Detoxification Center providing assessment and brief intervention to people admitted to detox. She is also former Executive Administrator of the Wisconsin Society of Addition Medicine, where she coordinated two annual conferences, and contributed to the organization’s growth and engagement with other addiction professionals.
Cindy has co-authored several clinician-oriented resources on substance use disorders for the patient-centered Whole Health Approach to Clinical Care project, geared toward clinicians who work with veterans. She has also co-authored several research publications on mindfulness-based interventions for the treatment of opioid-treated chronic low back pain and alcohol dependence.
Her professional interests include raising awareness and creating connections across Wisconsin to support the recovery movement and increase support and resources for those in and seeking recovery and their advocates; cognitive behavioral therapy and theory; mind-body therapies including mindfulness and hypnosis; strategies to improve quality of life; resilience; well-being; perception and cognition; cultural diversity, equity and inclusion; process improvement and workflow development; and team-building.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, nature photography, writing, playing guitar, and other creative endeavors and adventures.
Meagan Sulikowski is an Associate Outreach Specialist who graduated from UW- Madison with a bachelor’s in Social Work in May 2017 and a master’s in Social Work in May 2018. In 2017, Meagan joined the Voices team and added her experience with public policy and administration. Since starting at Wisconsin Voices for Recovery, Meagan has represented the organization on multiple state committees including the Recovery Implementation Task Force and the Certified Peer Support Specialist Advisory Council. Meagan has presented at multiple state conferences on the subject matters of ED2Recovery, recovery and stigma reduction. She is dedicated to improving and expanding resources and support for those in recovery, seeking recovery and their loved ones.
Shelbey Hagen joined the Wisconsin Voices for Recovery team as an Outreach Specialist in 2021. She earned a Bachelor’s of Public Health/Community Health Education in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Education – Guidance Counseling. Shelbey’s professional interests include health equity and social justice, school health/wellness, and counseling. In her free time, Shelbey enjoys running and yoga, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Mike Sheridan is an Associate Outreach Specialist for Wisconsin Voices For Recovery. Mike brings a wide range of experience to the team. Mike has an Associate's Degree form UW Whitewater. Mike also is trained as a Peer Support Specialist from the UW Milwaukee; CCAR Recovery Coach, CCAR Recovery Coach Trainer, from Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery; HIPPA Certified Trainer.
Mike has been in recovery for over 28 years. He credits his recovery for giving him the opportunity to serve in numerous leadership roles, one of which was Speaker for the Wisconsin State Assembly. He has found the secret to sobriety, working with individuals that still suffer from addiction. Over the last four years Mike has been on the front lines in the opioid epidemic as a Recovery Coach. "One of the most important things that we do is meet with individuals in emergency rooms, just after an overdose."
Mike's main focus is to help ED2Recovery+ program and WVFR, to build a statewide support network that will help individuals recover from addiction and live a long and prosperous life.
In his spare time Mike enjoys spending time with his 10 grandchildren.
Aaron Clayborn is an Associate Outreach Specialist for Wisconsin Voices For Recovery. Aaron has been involved with the recovery community since 2005. He began his formal education by attending the Recovery Coach Academy presented by WIRCO in 2019 and began to enhance his understanding about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol in all aspects of life. Aaron loves to inspire others who are seeking a healthy lifestyle.
Aaron is a State Certified Peer Specialist, Certified Naloxone Trainer, and Recovery Coach trainer of trainers; and has facilitated Recovery and Naloxone trainings for individuals statewide. He also swerves on the Healthy Sheboygan County 2020 Coalition in his role as a Recovery Coach Supervisor and community organizer. Aaron describes his passion as helping to change the lives of those individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use disorder. Aaron is continuously active in the community advocating for peers and implementing initiatives along with other community leaders, agencies and organizations to foster health, wellness and addiction recovery. Aaron enjoys working one-on-one or collectively with individuals in the community to increase the success rate in long term recovery and mental health. Some initiatives include stigma reduction, reducing recidivism and helping to initiate harm reduction strategies throughout Sheboygan County and beyond.
Aaron has been a resident of Sheboygan County for more than twenty years and currently resides with his fiancée and their children. Aaron enjoys weightlifting, doing yoga, drawing and spending time with his fiancée and their children.
