Rita began her road to public education as a heath and physical education teacher after graduating from UW-La Crosse. Three years later she returned to the LaCrosse area where she began her work as a prevention educator with the non-profit agency Coulee Council on Addictions, Inc. eventually adding prevention specialist to her list of accomplishments. Rita’s beginning focus was K-12 substance use prevention and education in school districts in LaCrosse and Trempealeau County, along with community substance abuse and addiction education. Rita is involved with the LaCrosse County prevention network coalition and the alliance to HEAL overseeing the youth and community prevention subgroup. After almost 12 years with the agency Rita began her work as a recovery coach supervisor- overseeing a group of 12 recovery coaches through the ED2Recovery+ program.
