Wisconsin Voices for Recovery is excited to be a part of the creation of a statewide Recovery Housing Committee. This committee will be focused on recovery housing and issues related to housing in Wisconsin and is currently determining goals and mission for 2018.
Peer Recovery Support Services, like Recovery Housing, are a cost-effective and sustainable way to provide recovery support services. Not only is housing an integral component of recovery (SAMHSA, 2012), recovery housing or safe and stable housing post-treatment, increases treatment outcomes and recovery capital. According to research done by Oxford Homes, “people who enter recovery housing—when compared to people returning to their community directly after treatment—typically have decreased rates of substance use and incarceration. They are also more likely to have increased rates of employment, according to a 2010 study on recovery outcomes of people living in sober living houses” (SAMHSA, 2013).
