The Nalox-ZONE™ Program aims to support both safety and harm reduction in communities across the state of Wisconsin.
Opioids continue to be the leading cause of drug overdose deaths in the United States. Despite progress in addressing the opioid epidemic over the past few years, the number of reported suspected opioid overdoses have remained steady in Wisconsin. The Nalox-ZONE™ Program, developed in response to an increase in opioid overdose deaths in 2021, has the mission of reducing the risk of opioid-related fatality across the state of Wisconsin through raising awareness about nasal naloxone, a life-saving temporary opioid overdose reversal medication; and increasing visibility and accessibility to this life-saving medication through distribution of Nalox-ZONE™ boxes. To date (7/1/2025), there are over 575 Nalox-ZONE™ boxes located across 57 Wisconsin counties. Nalox-ZONE™ boxes are provided to Wisconsin communities for free.
